I love you, mommy.

I never thought of those 4 words as convicting words but yesterday they were. They are supposed to chase warm circles around a mommys heart, especially when they are said 4 or 5 times in a day, completely voluntarily.
I was having ONE.OF.THOSE.DAYS! All 3 of the boys came down with hand, foot and mouth disease. They picked it up from some of our friends children that innocently brought their younguns to a gathering, not knowing thats what it was. Anyway, its terrible stuff!
I was trying to get Ryan caught up on his school work and poor little Jeremy is covered in sores and can hardly crawl for hurting so bad and Matthew has the post-sickness naughtiness and, and, and.........
NO excuse is ever good enough to yell at your children. Yelling is something akin to abuse in my mind and I do not want to stoop that low! Well yesterday I got caught in the moment and lashed out at the boys.
I immediately gathered them together on the floor and and apologized and explained to them that mommy does not want to ever do that again, Children are sooo forgiving. They wrapped their little arms around my neck and said its ok mama.
The day went on somewhat uneventful and I was working on supper preparations in the kitchen when Matthew comes running through the kitchen on his way to the bathroom, never missing a beat, hollers out, "I love you, mommy" and that happened 2 or 3 more times!
WOW. Those words never hit me so hard. So, yes, the saying is true; "A little child shall lead them." That may be taken out of its context but it applies to this situation for me!
I think we can learn sooo much from our children, in the area of forgiveness and unconditional love.
This little man has NO idea that his 4 little words "I love you, mommy" stirred up so many things inside of me yesterday!
